Theater Tol is bringing new life to Garden of Angels this season, with a refreshed version of the beloved show set to premiere at Theater aan Twater on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 21:30 on the Main Stage at De Schorre, Boom in Antwerp.

While the essence of the show remains intact, several key updates promise to offer audiences a slightly different experience. Garden of Angels has always been a spectacle of light, music, and aerial choreography, but this spring, those elements are receiving thoughtful attention and fine-tuning.

New Music, Lighting, and Costume Details
Benjamien – Theater Tol’s business director and resident composer – is creating new musical pieces for the show, carefully woven into the existing score to bring fresh emotion and rhythm to the performance.
Audiences may also notice subtle changes in costume design, which enhance the story visually and support some of the new movement dynamics. Updates in the lighting design will amplify the show’s dreamlike atmosphere, emphasizing contrast and flow, particularly during the aerial scenes.

Choreographic Innovations
The full aerial section has been reimagined to bring more movement and tension to the skies. Dancers will perform a new arm sequence mid-air, and we’ve added a dynamic moment that plays with the opening and closing of the costume’s signature skirt – adding a striking new visual layer to the choreography.

A Stronger Focus on Community
What continues to set Theater Tol apart is our deep connection to the communities we perform in. Garden of Angels includes local volunteers who help bring the magic to life – from assisting with costume logistics (including pieces from Mariage Fantastique) to supporting performers during the show.

This community engagement is central to our work and will become even more prominent in future shows. In Pedaleando Hacia el Cielo, for instance, volunteers ride bikes alongside the performers, while in an upcoming production of Mariage Fantastique in Metz, we plan to collaborate with a local brass band.
